Adult Swim Unveils Largest-Ever Programming Slate

NEW YORK: New seasons of Adult Swim hits such as Childrens Hospital sit in the 2012-13 schedule alongside new shows, including Black Dynamite and Hot Package.

New original series and specials include Newsreaders, a satire of the network TV newsmagazine genre, from the team behind Childrens Hospital. The Eric Andre Show is presented in a traditional talk-show format, but its host is inept and bipolar. Black Dynamite is an animated series based on 2009’s feature film of the same name. Adult Swim is bringing back the network’s popular block of anime programming with Toonami. This fall, the live-action Hot Package debuts as a fictional Canadian entertainment news program. Adult Swim also has an untitled "Hell" project, which will be a workplace comedy about an associate demon who is competing on the corporate ladder of the underworld. Robot Chick DC Comic Special will feature the same guest stars and stop-motion sketch comedy that have been featured in five seasons of the Adult Swim series. In October, Venture Brothers Halloween Special will celebrate the holiday. Beforel Orel is a special that shed’s light on the origins of Orel’s religious nature.

A pilot for an untitled animated Harold & Kumar Project is in development. Other pilots includes Rick & Morty, about a genius inventor grandfather and his less than genius grandson. Colonel Wallace (working title) is about an eccentric southern fried chicken magnate. Coffin Dodgers is about a group of misfit grumps who get into trouble at a cozy suburban retirement home. Green Bench: The American Day Dream, Freestyle Love Supreme, King Star King and Rolling with Dad have also been piloted.

Returning to Adult Swim are Aqua Something You Know Whatever, The Boondocks, Childrens Hospital, China, IL and The Heart, She Holler. Also on the returning slate are Loiter Squad, NTSF:SD:SUV, Robot Chicken, Squidbillies and Superjail! Adult Swim is also bringing back new seasons of a number of acquired series, including American Dad, Bleach, Family Guy and King of the Hill.
