BURBANK: ABC Family has greenlit two single-camera comedy pilots, Kevin from Work and Tough Cookie, both of which are set to go into production later this month.

Kevin from Work is a half-hour workplace comedy about a young man who professes his love to a co-worker, thinking he’ll never see her again after he accepts a job offer overseas. But then that job offer is rescinded, leaving the two to continue working with each other. Barbie Adler created and executive produces the show, along with Aaron Kaplan at Kapital Entertainment and McG at Wonderland Sound & Vision.

The half-hour comedy Tough Cookie centers on a young mother who isn’t ready to parent and her daughter who doesn’t want to be parented. Series creator Lauren Iungerich will serve as executive producer with David Janollari.

“Single-camera comedies represent an evolution of our comedy brand, and we look forward to building a successful single-camera comedy franchise to match the success we’re having with multi-cam comedies,” said Karey Burke, the executive VP of programming and development.
