Lawless to Rep Barbara Cartland Project

LOS ANGELES: Lawless Entertainment has been appointed as the worldwide representative for Cartland, a project based on the life of the late romantic-fiction author Barbara Cartland.

Lawless will handle the TV co-production and distribution, licensing, merchandising and publishing rights for Cartland. The company is currently seeking co-production partners for the project. Known as "The Queen of Romance," Cartland penned more than 400 novels that have been translated into 36 languages. Nearly one billion of her books have been sold around the globe. In addition to being an author, Cartland was a journalist, women's rights advocate and campaigner for preserving the world's ecology. She was also Princess Diana's step-grandmother and supported many of her causes.

"For three generations, millions of young women throughout the world have learned more about romance from Barbara Cartland than an army of psychologists could ever teach them," said David Wickes, producer of Cartland.

"We are honored to work with David Wickes on this project," added Cathy Malatesta, the president of Lawless Entertainment. "Cartland will prove to be yet another success of the Wickes Company."
