LOS ANGELES: David Lyle, formerly the CEO of National Geographic Channel, has been appointed president of the newly formed producers trade association PactUS.

Pact has been present in the U.K. for more than a decade, representing the commercial interests of independent TV and content production companies in the U.K. As the organization heads to the States, Lyle will be helping its members and buyers navigate developing issues and take advantage of emerging opportunities in the TV landscape. Lyle is presently tasked with establishing offices in Los Angeles and New York, hiring staff and finding business and legal representatives to provide free information and advice to PactUS’ growing membership base.

“It’s a privilege to lend a voice to the thriving independent production community here in the U.S.—a group I love—at a time when the broadcasting and digital industries are becoming global in reach and ambition,” said Lyle. “I’m eager to introduce to the U.S. an organization that’s been crucial in protecting and serving the interests of U.K.’s independent content producers. Here in the U.S., production companies face many similar and some importantly different challenges.”

“David brings with him the necessary experience and knowledge to expand our mission in the U.S.,” said Pact UK Chief Executive John McVay. “With his success leading some of the country’s top TV channels and production companies, he has a nuanced understanding of the needs of content creators, producers and buyers. Our goal is to ensure that there is an effective producers’ organization that works in both markets to support producers, and PactUS is in great hands with David at the helm.”
