NORTH HOLLYWOOD: Pilgrim Studios has optioned the film and television rights for author Peter Duffy's nonfiction book Double Agent: The First Hero of World War II and How the FBI Outwitted and Destroyed a Nazi Spy Ring.

The book tells the true story of William Sebold, a German-born American citizen who risked his life to become the first double agent in FBI history. He infiltrated New York City’s Nazi underground, leading to the arrest and conviction of 33 German spies at the dawn of America’s entrance into World War II.

Craig Piligian, executive producer and CEO of Pilgrim Studios, said: “William Sebold thwarted operatives from Nazi Germany who were stealing America’s most vital military secrets right here on U.S. soil. He was just an ordinary man, but without him, the history of World War II may have been written very differently. We feel so fortunate to bring this hidden gem of a story to the screen, and to be working with such extraordinary material.”
