SEATTLE: Five different titles from an assortment of creators are due to premiere August 28 as part of Amazon Instant Video’s third pilot season in the U.S. and the U.K.

Those pilots include three half-hour comedies and two hour-long thrillers, which will all be available for customers to watch, rate and review. The chosen titles will then receive full series orders. Amazon customers can view the shows on the Amazon Instant Video app for Fire TV, Kindle Fire Tablets, iPad, iPhone, Xbox and PlayStation, among other connected devices, as well as online.

Whit Stillman’s romantic comedy The Cosmopolitans centers on a group of young American expatriates searching for love and friendship in Paris. Hand of God, from filmmaker Marc Forster, stars Ron Perlman as a man who goes on a vigilante quest to find the rapist who tore his family apart. Hysteria follows a community where social connection has become contagious, while Really explores the messiness of marriage and friendships in suburban Chicago. Finally, Red Oaks is a coming-of-age-comedy set in the ’80s produced by Steven Soderbergh.

“We are delighted to be able to bring Amazon customers new shows from some of Hollywood’s most talented actors and creators,” said Roy Price, the director of Amazon Studios. “There is something for everyone in this season and I can’t wait to hear our customers’ feedback when they premiere later this month.”
