NEW YORK: NBC, People and dick clark productions have aligned for The People Magazine Awards, which will air in late 2014.
The awards are meant to honor the cultural forces of the year. This will include recognizing the biggest phenomenon of 2014, the most popular person, most stylish person, funniest person, sexiest woman and more. The show will also feature performances from a variety of artists. Viewers will have the chance to participate in a fan-voted award.
"There is no better barometer of the cultural events and top personalities of the world than People magazine," said Paul Telegdy, the president of alternative and late night programming at NBC Entertainment. "This awards show will bring to light all who have broken through the clutter to make their voices heard throughout the year."
“We are thrilled to be partnering with dick clark productions and NBC on The People Magazine Awards, which will provide a snapshot of the most compelling and talked about people and pop culture topics that grabbed our attention and drove the conversation throughout the year,” added Larry Hackett, the editor of People magazine.
“People magazine is the most influential celebrity and entertainment news vehicle in America, making them the perfect partner for us to create a year-end awards show recognizing the year’s best and most talked about people across film, television, music, sports and the social landscape,” said Allen Shapiro, the CEO of dick clark productions.
