Host & Honoree Revealed for 2013 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards

LOS ANGELES: Comedian Rob Brydon has been selected to host this year's BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards, which will honor Idris Elba, a Golden Globe-winning actor.

Elba will receive the LA Britannia Humanitarian Award on Saturday, November 9 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The ceremony, which is presented by BBC America, will be broadcast on Sunday, November 10 at 9 p.m. It will also air on Sky Movies in the U.K. on November 11 as a two-hour special that will include footage of the Britannia Awards Red Carpet.

Rebecca Segal and Deborah Kolar, co-chairs of the Britannia Awards, issued a joint statement: "We're really delighted that Rob will be hosting this year's Britannia Awards. Rob has brought TV viewers wonderful performances over the years and is probably best known in the U.S. from his roles in the hit comedies Marion and Geoff and Gavin & Stacey. As one of the most diverse and respected comic actors in the U.K., we are thrilled Rob will bring his wonderful Brit wit to the evening."

Gary Dartnall, chairman of BAFTA Los Angeles, added: "Idris Elba has used his success in film and television to turn the spotlight towards a very deserving cause. His work with the Prince's Trust for disadvantaged youth is highly commendable, and in complete accord with BAFTA Los Angeles' own work in the inner city."
