Esquire Network to Replace Style, Not G4

LOS ANGELES: Esquire Network is slated to make its official debut on September 23, now replacing the Style Network instead of G4 as it was previously expected to.

NBCUniversal said Monday that the channel will be replacing Style since the company has three other existing cable channels that already cater to the female demographic, with Bravo, E! and Oxygen. Style's current viewership is higher than G4, at 74 million households compared to 62 million for the male-skewed G4.

Esquire Network's debut coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Esquire brand. The network's first original production will be Esquire's 80th, which looks at the brand's impact over the last eight decades through its coverage of politics, war, fame, women, sports, technology, sex and style.

“Esquire has set the standard for telling our most important stories with depth, intelligence and style, and this special will celebrate the debut of Esquire Network in much the same way,” said Adam Stotsky, the general manager of Esquire Network. “It seems only fitting that the network begins its existence by celebrating the rich legacy of this truly iconic brand.”
