eOne Enters TV Development Deal with Sunrise Pictures

LOS ANGELES: Sunrise Pictures and Entertainment One (eOne) have entered into a television development deal to co-finance and develop pilot scripts, primarily for one-hour cable dramas.

For the projects to come from the relationship, eOne will produce and handle the worldwide distribution. Sunrise Pictures is behind the films The Whistleblower, the upcoming The Trials of Cate McCall and There’s Always Woodstock. The company is also gearing up to shoot a reality series that follows the life and career of singer/songwriter and actress Maria Conchita Alonso.

“We are very excited to be working with eOne as our company moves forward into the television platform space. We couldn’t think of a better partnership and collaboration to help us enter into this new frontier,” noted Peter Schafer, CEO of Sunrise Pictures.

“We’re delighted to be in business with Peter and the creative team at Sunrise,” said John Morayniss, the CEO of Entertainment One Television. “This new venture supports eOne’s commitment to dramatic programming, like The Walking Dead and Haven, and we’re looking forward to expanding our portfolio with more compelling content for U.S. and global audiences.”
