NEW YORK: Denise Richards stars alongside the up-and-coming actors Brendon Thwaites and Indiana Evans in Blue Lagoon: The Awakening, a modern-day retelling of the classic coming-of-age love story, premiering on Lifetime this June.

The two-hour original movie will also feature an appearance by Christopher Atkins, who was in the original Blue Lagoon. The story tells of an overachieving high-school student, Emma, and a slacker, Dean, who find themselves on the same class trip. During a police raid that happens due to a wild party, Emma falls overboard and Dean jumps in to save her. The two wind up stranded on a deserted island, relying on each other for survival.

The movie, distributed by Sony Pictures Television, debuts June 16 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.
