Zeppelin Films Lands Two New Commissions

The year-old factual indie Zeppelin Films, founded by former Love Productions executive and BBC Commissioning Editor Elliot Reed, has secured two further commissions from 5STAR.

Zeppelin Films has won its second commission, the brand-new two-part series Marrying My Sugardaddy (working title), for 5STAR which will follow couples in relationships built on financial needs and with an age gap who have made a commitment to each other and are planning their wedding. Zeppelin Films has also secured its first returning series, Rich Kids Go Homeless, for 5STAR.

Channel 5 Commissioner Denise Seneviratne has ordered another six hour-long episodes in which a wealthy young person with negative views of homeless people will live on the streets with nothing but a sleeping bag and prove they can get back on their feet again in only a few days. The first season aired in April 2019.

Both series are in production, and Zeppelin Films is currently casting for stories and characters. Reed will executive produce both.

Reed, managing director of Zeppelin Films, said: “We’re pleased to be making a second series about an incredibly pressing issue in Britain. Austerity and cuts to services continue to drive a worsening homelessness crisis. The new series will confront young people’s misconceptions, challenge their views in an immersive situation, and change the way they think about homelessness—and possibly themselves.”

Reed added: “Zeppelin Films was launched to make thought-provoking formats and documentaries and has been commissioned to produce 22 hours of television in year one. Both these new series offer the audience a different view of life, following people from contrasting ends of the age and wealth gap.”
