WaterBear Network has launched a U.S. advisory council and named David Evans Shaw as its first council member.

Shaw will support WaterBear with networking around its core business areas, including content production, distribution and marketing to strategic partnerships and fundraising. WaterBear’s U.S. advisory council will expand over the coming months, with more appointments to be announced this year.

Shaw has served as managing partner of Black Point Group and as CEO of IDEXX Laboratories. He produces short environmental impact films and his board experience spans the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, Nautilus magazine, The Jackson Laboratory, American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Aspen High Seas Initiative.

Ellen Windemuth, CEO and founder of WaterBear, said: “We are excited to welcome David Shaw as our first advisory council member. His experience will be invaluable as we accelerate our expansion in the U.S. market and continue to evolve our content offering to members of the U.S. and Canadian public. David fully understands impact production and shares our values. This marks a new stage for WaterBear.”

Shaw added: “In just a few short months, WaterBear has proven that storytelling on the ground can create waves of impact, and it’s more important than ever before to do just that. I look forward to sharing my experience in filmmaking, conservation, ocean preservation and financing to the council and to be a part of the acceleration of WaterBear globally. There is no better time than now to act.”
