TBS & TNT Hire Former Facebook Watch & MTV Exec

TBS and TNT, both part of WarnerMedia Entertainment, have tapped former Facebook Watch and MTV exec Kristina Edwards for the role of VP of unscripted series.

Edwards is based in Los Angeles and reports to Michael Bloom, senior VP of unscripted and series and live programming for TBS and TNT. The hire comes on the heels of both networks’ relaunch of nonfiction programming with titles like James Corden’s Drop the Mic and Snoop Dogg Presents The Joker’s Wild.

The upcoming live-event series Chasing the Cure hosted by Ann Curry—which integrates live TV and digital platforms in a medical crowdsourcing initiative to help patients that suffer from rare, undiagnosed or misdiagnosed medical mysteries—will further expand TNT’s factual slate.

Edwards joins TNT and TBS from Facebook Watch. In her role there, she was responsible for creative oversight and managing the platform’s non-scripted projects, including Will Smith’s BucketList, the platform’s biggest launch to date. Prior to her position at Facebook Watch, Edwards served as a development consultant for Fuse and from 2010 to 2017, was MTV Network’s VP of programming and development.

“Kristina has distinguished herself with a successful track record of uncompromisingly bold and innovative series in addition to having an eye for creative talent,” said Bloom. “Not only is she driven by her passion for creative ideas, but she also understands how to evolve the content experience according to the needs of brands and audiences alike, which is also inherent in the way we create our shows. I’ve known Kristina for years, love her energy and experience. We are really excited to welcome her to our team.”
