Smithsonian Channel Honors Juneteenth with Dedicated Lineup

Smithsonian Channel, in recognition of Juneteenth, has programmed a full day of content that will feature coverage of the pre-Civil War era in America through Obama’s presidency.

The dedicated lineup includes such Black History documentaries as Escape to the Great Dismal Swamp, Civil War 360: Fight for Freedom, Legend of Lead Belly, The Green Book: Guide to Freedom, Breath of Freedom, Major League Legends: Hank Aaron, Seizing Justice: The Greensboro 4, The Lost Tapes: Malcolm X, MLK: The Assassination Tapes; Black Wings, Black in Space: Breaking the Color Barrier and The Obama Years: The Power of Words.

The documentaries will begin airing on linear today (June 19) at 12 p.m. Additionally, a special selection of full episodes has been released for free on YouTube through the curated playlist, “The Ongoing Struggle for Equality.” This includes “The Lost Tapes: LA Riots,” “The Lost Tapes: Malcolm X,” “The Green Book: Guide to Freedom,” “Seizing Justice: The Greensboro 4,” “MLK: The Assassination Tapes,” “Breath of Freedom” and “Smithsonian Time Capsule: 1968.”
