LONDON: Sky Vision has been appointed as distributor for the 6×1-hour Savage Kingdom, which comes from Icon Films and Natural History Film Unit Botswana.

Shot in 4K, the series looks at warring animal clans that include lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs, battling for survival in a remote region of Africa that is drying up after years of flood-soaked abundance. Each episode is told from one predator’s point of view. Charles Dance narrates.

Sky Vision will distribute the series worldwide outside the U.S. and MENA. Savage Kingdom was commissioned by National Geographic WILD, which will debut the program as a miniseries event globally starting in November.

Lucy Middelboe, the commercial director of Icon Films, said, “We are very pleased to be working with Sky Vision on this incredibly exciting new series. We received a lot of interest in the distribution rights for Savage Kingdom and believe that Sky Vision, with their track record in Natural History and reputation for innovative factual and scripted output, is the perfect company to take this natural history/drama hybrid out into the international market.”

Andrew Bowers, the acquisitions manager for specialist factual at Sky Vision, added, “Sky Vision is really excited to be working with Icon to represent Savage Kingdom internationally. Icon Films are amongst the world leaders in producing quality blue-chip wildlife content, and this series will be a fantastic addition to our Science & Nature catalog, offering compelling emotion and drama. I’m confident that audiences across the world will be enthralled by this new series made in conjunction with Natural History Film Unit Botswana.”
