Sky Unveils Upcoming Entertainment Lineup

Sky has unveiled its upcoming lineup of entertainment content, including new seasons of A League of Their Own and Rob & Romesh Vs, among others.

Jill Scott, Maisie Adam, Micah Richards and Jamie Redknapp return for A League of Their Own: The Rally after exploring Mexico in A League of Their Own: Mexican Road Trip. The new season will see the four paired off into teams and take off on a race from London to Turin, completing off-road challenges along the way.

The four will travel through Paris, Lake Geneva and the Alps before making it to Turin. The team that reaches the final destination with the most points will hoist the ALOTO Rally Cup.

Also coming to Sky is a seventh season of Rob & Romesh Vs, which will see Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan throw themselves into a new set of unknown worlds. They will return to Las Vegas and team up with the UFC to explore mixed martial arts, tackle heavy metal and practice their death growls at Download Festival, test out their photography skills as part of the Natural History Museum’s wildlife photographer of the year and dive into the world of Hollywood stunts.

Beckett and Ranganathan will also try their hand at darts in Alexandra Palace for a one-off special for early next year.

A new series with Joe Lycett, Joe Lycett’s United States of Birmingham, will be making its way to Sky as well. Lycett, in his self-appointed role as Birmingham’s ambassador and with the blessing of the actual Lord Mayor of the city, goes on a mission to put the city back on the map. To do that, he heads to North America—home to no fewer than 18 Birminghams—and travels from Canada’s Saskatchewan down the East Coast, through the midwest and into the Deep South to explore their history, their cultural commonalities and form official “friendship agreements” with as many North American Birminghams as he can. He will then invite some of his new friends back to his own Birmingham for an International Day of Birmingham.

“I am delighted to be making this show for Sky, which will finally secure me enough money to move to London,” Lycett jokes.

A slew of new stand-up specials will air on sky this year as well. This includes David Baddiel: Not the Trilogy, Lucy Beaumont: Live from the Royal Court Theatre, Tom Davis: Underdog, John Kearns: The Varnishing Days, Stewart Lee: Basic Lee (Live from the Lowry) and Chris Ramsey: Live from London. This marks the first televised specials for Beaumont, Davis and Kearns.

“We’re proud to bring you the laughs on Sky Max with a who’s who of brilliant British comedy talent and the world’s best magician all in one place,” said Phil Edgar-Jones, director of arts and entertainment at Sky. “We have firm audience favorites, Rob & Romesh Vs, A League of Their Own, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, as well as recent additions like The Overlap and Hold the Front Page, and we’re introducing the wonderful Joe Lycett to our joyful lineup. In a stressful world, we need all the laughter we can get.”
