Ahead of MIPTV, Passion Distribution has unveiled a slate of new formats and documentaries to go alongside returning franchises.

The company’s catalog features the four-part The Royals: A History of Scandals, in which Suzannah Lipscomb explores what role the press, parliament and public have played in generating outrage and spreading rumors about the British monarchs across centuries. It delves into some royal scandals viewers might know about but many they won’t.

The hour-long documentary JFK: The Home Movie That Changed the World is also one of Passion Distribution’s factual highlights. Coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, the 60-minute doc tells the story of the home movie footage that captured the event from start to finish.

Another single documentary on the slate is The Crossing, which pieces together a tragedy in the English Channel, during which over 30 people died as they attempted to seek asylum in the U.K.

The one-hour documentary Bend it Like Bollywood, meanwhile, explores gender, family and community.

Nick Tanner, director of sales and co-productions, says these programs have global appeal because they are “high-quality, relevant factual programming that explores today’s global dilemmas, marks one of the most defining moments of the 20th century and dives into our fascination with the royals behaving badly.”

Passion Distribution’s catalog also features a slew of series, including Classic Car Garage, following a classic car specialist and his band of vintage vehicle enthusiast mates; Pet Psychic, where a professional pet psychic telepathically communicates with family pets; Gold Coast Ocean Rescue, taking viewers inside marine life rescues; and more.

Available as both finished series and formats are Better Date Than Never, following a diverse group of single love seekers as they take their first step into the dating world; One Night Stand, seeing lovestruck singles surprise someone they previously had a one-night stand with; and Chore Wars (w.t.), looking into domestic modern life to determine who really takes on more than their fair share.

Other programs on the slate are Australia’s Most Identical, a reboot of the Mentorn Media format Most Identical, and Swipe with Caution, a crime documentary that delves into the dangerous world of dating apps.

Plenty of returning series are also available from Passion. This includes Special Ops Crime Squad season two; Car Pound Cops season three; Traffic Cops season 12; Killer at the Crime Scene season three; Trailblazers season two; Find It Fix It Flog It season five; World’s Most Expensive Cruise season three; and Lap of Luxury season three.

“Passion is proud to present a range of purposeful but playful non-scripted content that gives a real point of difference,” Tanner says.
