MARS, Planet Earth II Slated for MIPCOM Screenings

PARIS: Two exclusive first-episode showings of brand-new factual series have been slated as part of the MIPCOM Screenings program: National Geographic’s MARS presented by FOX Networks Group Content Distribution, and Planet Earth II from BBC Worldwide.

Produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment and RadicalMedia, MARS will screen on Monday, October 17, in the Palais des Festivals, Auditorium A at 4 p.m. This will be followed by a Q&A session with members of the cast and producers.

Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, Planet Earth II comes a decade after the original Planet Earth. A BBC/BBC America/ZDF/France Télévisions co-production, Planet Earth II will screen on Tuesday, October 18, in the Palais des Festivals, Auditorium K at 1:30 p.m.

“We are naturally delighted that both FOX Networks Group Content Distribution and BBC Worldwide have chosen Cannes to showcase their flagship factual series, which underlines the importance of MIPCOM as a showcase for international buyers,” said Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM’s television division.
