MagellanTV has secured the global distribution rights to Chess.com’s debut documentary, The City of Human Chess.

Since 1923, the small Italian town of Marostica has hosted a live chess performance inspired by a 15th-century tale. The City of Human Chess chronicles how town locals worked collectively to restore this Italian chess tradition after the Covid pandemic forced a hiatus.

The City of Human Chess began streaming exclusively on MagellanTV on October 27.

“We’re honored to showcase The City of Human Chess, the first documentary from Chess.com, on MagellanTV,” said Rob McEvily, MagellanTV’s director of digital marketing. “Collaborating with the Chess.com team and sharing this story of tradition and passion has been a genuine pleasure.”
