Discovery Networks has acquired Killing Michael Jackson for its channels in Italy, Germany and the Nordics.

The documentary film, which explores the circumstances around Michael Jackson’s death and its aftermath, will also launch on Discovery’s Quest Red channel in the U.K. to mark the 10-year anniversary of the controversial global pop icon’s passing. It features the three detectives who led the original investigation in 2009—Orlando Martinez, Dan Myers and Scott Smith—who are reunited onscreen for the first time since the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray to re-examine the case and reveal to viewers the detail of their work.

Killing Michael Jackson will also explore the co-dependent relationship between Jackson and Murray, who was ultimately jailed for the involuntary manslaughter of the singer. The hour-long program from Zig Zag Productions will examine the extent of Murray’s culpability, the minutes that led up to Jackson’s death, his passing and the immediate aftermath.

Matt Graff, managing director of Zig Zag Productions, said: “We are delighted that this documentary has been picked up in territories across the world. This film focuses on the intriguing circumstances surrounding Michael Jackson’s death, giving audiences a fascinating insight into the final moments of the pop star’s life and the criminal process that lead to the arrest and conviction of Dr. Conrad Murray.”
