Jambika Docs Appoints Andrew Arbuthnot as Acquisitions Executive

Jambika Docs has appointed Andrew Arbuthnot as acquisitions executive and added to its lineup the Melbourne International Film Festival Audience Award-winning documentary Left Write Hook.

“I’m thrilled to join Jambika Docs and bring Left Write Hook onto our slate,” said Arbuthnot. “This film exemplifies the kind of urgent, emotionally resonant storytelling that Jambika is committed to championing on the global stage. It’s not only a powerful work of art—it’s a necessary act of advocacy.”

Arbuthnot brings over 15 years of industry experience across scripted and documentary formats. He was formerly the investment and development manager at Screen Australia.

Left Write Hook follows eight survivors of childhood sexual abuse as they take part in a writing-and-boxing program led by the film’s participant and producer, Dr. Donna Lyon. It is directed by Shannon Owen and produced by Gal Greenspan and Rachel Forbes.

Left Write Hook has always been about more than a film: it’s about amplifying survivor voices and showing what’s possible through creativity, sport and community,” said Lyon. “Partnering with Jambika Docs means this story can reach audiences worldwide, continuing our work of breaking silence and building change.”

“We got involved with this film because of its deep human connection,” said Juan Solera, head of acquisitions and sales at Jambika Docs. “It tackles the urgent global issue of sexual abuse and domestic violence with empathy, dignity and strength. This documentary is both cinematic and socially vital. Its universality gives it strong sales potential to reach every regional market while connecting with their specific audiences. ”

Left Write Hook joins a growing slate of bold, globally relevant documentaries at Jambika Docs, affirming the company’s commitment to championing powerful non-fiction voices. Jambika Docs launched earlier this year to represent bold, filmmaker-driven international documentary and factual content.
