Autentic Distribution has released its new summer slate, which features a strong history lineup, as well as travel and wildlife conservation programming.

Secret History of the Euro, produced by Taglicht Media, is a feature documentary set for the 20th anniversary of the Euro in 2022. It sees director and journalist Annalisa Piras paint a picture of the currency that is also a symbol for unity and peace, as well as a curse.

Remembering the dissolution of the Soviet Union 30 years ago, Autentic Distribution has added The End of a Superpower: The Collapse of the Soviet Union by German prodco Hoferichter & Jacobs. The one-off looks at the former superpower, its people and the impact on today’s political structures. In the mini-series Building Empires: China, Pilot Productions explores an empire that exists to this day, looking at the history, culture and values that have made China such a resilient civilization and how these have affected modern China today.

The docu-drama JFK’s Love for Europe, produced by Vincent TV, follows the young Kennedy on his summer trips to Europe. The in-house production Light & Glamour: History of the French Riviera gives access to never-before-seen archival footage on the golden days of the Côte d’Azur and the most famous Grand Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.

Other programming being shopped includes the wildlife title Survival of the Fittest in the Alps by doc.station. The one-off follows different animal species in the winter high mountains on their task to survive the extreme conditions. The in-house wildlife conservation series Wildlife Diaries Australia follows sanctuaries and scientists on their fight against the destruction of natural habitats, while Berlin Producer’s Apennine Mountains—The Wild Heart of Italy takes a journey along the Apennines. The Stone Men, by Italian prodco GiUMa Produzioni, is returning for a second season.

In addition, Autentic Distribution has added Colossal Machines, the second co-production between Canada’s Go Button Media and Autentic after the science series The Animal Within. The six-part technology series strips down the design of some of the world’s unique colossal machines and reveals mechanical secrets that made them work and changed the world in a big way. Colossal Machines is now available for pre-sale.

Mirjam Strasser, head of sales and acquisitions said: “Our latest additions cover all the major programming trends, from escapism to wildlife and conservation programs to contemporary history titles.”
