HGTV has ordered 12 new episodes of its series Scariest House in America and Ugliest House in America, starring actor, comedian and home design enthusiast Retta.
Scariest House in America will return with six new episodes that spotlight eerie houses throughout the Midwest, Northeast and South that owners say are haunted. The home deemed the scariest of them all will win a renovation by designer Alison Victoria.
Season two of Scariest House in America is slated to bow on HGTV in September.
In six new episodes of Ugliest House in America, Retta will travel the country to visit horrendous homes with outdated styles, bad designs and awful layouts. Based on appearance, functionality and design choices, one house will be crowned the ugliest house in America and receive a $150,000 renovation by Victoria.
The new season of Ugliest House in America is set to premiere next year.
Both Scariest House in America and Ugliest House in America are produced by Big Fish Entertainment.
“I’m back looking at ugly houses in America, babe!” Retta said. “And yes, I am also back (with much less enthusiasm) to look at the scary ones. Look—between that months-long SAG strike and the current uncertainty of the market, Mami needs the work. This mortgage won’t pay itself.”
