Fremantle has closed several international sales for the new feature documentary about Venus and Serena Williams’ father, On the Line: The Richard Williams Story.

Sky (U.K. and Italy), CANAL+ (France), MNET (South Africa), Paramount+ (Australia) and TVNZ (New Zealand) will launch the documentary, which features rare home video footage and candid interviews that detail the family’s unprecedented impact on the predominately white, upper-class sport in the 1990s and beyond.

The film features newly discovered archival footage from the courts in Compton and a roster of interview subjects such as Billie Jean King and Pam Shriver.

On the Line: The Richard Williams Story is directed by Stuart McClave and produced by ChaVam’s Chavoita LeSane, High Frequency Entertainment’s Duncan Montgomery and Jack Selby, Foundation 360’s Gary Ousdahl and Stuart McClave’s McClave Lumber Company.

“We are delighted to team up with our esteemed broadcaster partners to share the remarkable story of Richard Williams, in his own words,” said Jens Richter, CEO of commercial and international at Fremantle. “Mr. Williams granted Stuart McClave and his team unparalleled access and insight to allow them to create an unmissable documentary that will leave audiences across the globe feeling truly inspired.”
