Eagle Rock Entertainment and FilmRise are set to co-produce ICON: Music Through the Lens, a six-part documentary series that presents the stories behind the greatest music images ever made.

Curated by the iconic lensman Gered Mankowitz and directed by Dick Carruthers (Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Live, Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day), ICON features big-name photographers alongside modern-day talent, discussing the world-famous images they create, as they share the secrets behind capturing the essence of global music legends at the split-second touch of a shutter. The series features performances, interviews and images from artists including Elton John, Mick Jagger, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Beyoncé, Ziggy Marley, Keith Richards, DMX, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Dave Grohl, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and more.

In the U.K., Sky Arts has partnered with Eagle on the series, for broadcast in 2020.

Danny Fisher, CEO of FilmRise, stated, “We are thrilled to have partnered with Eagle Rock on this fabulous documentary series. It is a unique way of looking at rock music history, through the eyes of the photographers who captured these legendary performers and performances.”

Geoff Kempin, executive director of Eagle Rock Entertainment, said, “ICON signifies two art forms conjoining to make a splendid piece of filmmaking. We are excited to be presenting the program with FilmRise, as co-production partner.”
