discovery+ Unveils Original Series Slate

discovery+ has revealed the original series and specials that will be available during its debut month of January 2021.

“Our launch slate represents an ambitious start for discovery+, cementing our position as the leader in non-fiction, real-life entertainment,” said Lisa Holme, group senior VP of content and commercial strategy for Discovery, Inc. “We can’t wait for January 4, when we will give fans even more of the shows and stars they love. But we’re even more excited to surpass expectations on streaming by mixing genres in new ways, digging even deeper in the documentary space and introducing fans to their new favorite personalities.”

At launch on January 4, discovery+ will feature more than 50 original titles and over 150 hours of exclusive content. The service will premiere more than 1,000 hours of original content over the course of its first year. discovery+ will also launch with a landmark partnership with Verizon that gives their customers with select plans 12 months of discovery+ on Verizon.

Among the original discovery+ titles set to roll out on January 4 are love and relationship titles 90 Day Bares All, 90 Day Diaries, 90 Day Journey and The Other Way Strikes Back! Food series include Amy Schumer Learns to Cook: Uncensored, Bobby and Giada in Italy, Cakealikes, Chopped Challenge, Lovely Bites with Chef Lovely and Tregaye’s Way in the Kitchen. In the true-crime genre, there is American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda and Onision: In Real Life. Centering on the home are Frozen in Time, House Hunters: Comedians on Couches Unfiltered, Home Town: Ben’s Workshop, HGTV’s House Party, Tarek’s Flip Side and Christina: Stronger By Design.

The Magnolia Network Preview will feature Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines, Magnolia Network: A Look Ahead, Road to Launch, The Courage to Run with Chip Gaines and Gabe Grunewald. There will also be premiere episodes from ten upcoming Magnolia Network original series.

Lifestyle titles coming to discovery+ include Say Yes to the Dress: In Sickness and In Health and Dr. Pimple Popper: This Is Zit; and in adventure titles, there will be Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge’s Mine Rescue and Race Across the World. Programs across nature, science and animals include Mysterious Planet, Six Degrees with Mike Rowe, BattleBots: The Bounty Hunters and Elephant Hospital.

The documentary slate for January features P.S., Burn This Letter Please, Restaurant Hustle 2020: All on the Line—Director’s Cut, The Impossible Row, Beyond Borders, Judi Dench’s Wild Borneo Adventure, JonBenet Ramsey: What Really Happened? and Extreme Everest.

In the automotive genres, there is Monster Garage and Auto Biography. Amityville Horror House, Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel, Ghost Adventures: Top 10 are the paranormal the unexplained programs available on the service on January 4.

On January 14, UFO Witness will join discovery+, followed by Toddler’s & Tiaras: Where Are They Now? on January 21.
