A two-part sequel to Estonia—The Find That Changes Everything is slated to bow exclusively on discovery+ on June 19.

The award-winning documentary unearthed a previously unreported hole in the hull of the MS Estonia ferry, which sank in the Baltic Sea in September 1994, killing 852 people. The follow-up will focus on recent developments and how the documentary sparked public debate and sent political shockwaves through the Swedish government.

Estonia—The Find That Changes Everything was commissioned in Sweden in September 2020 and produced by Monster.

Myriam Lopez-Otazu, group VP of content and acquisitions for EMEA at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “Following the international success of Estonia—The Find That Changes Everything, we’re really pleased to enrich the insight provided in the first film with the two-part sequel. It’s a powerful story that had a huge impact on the investigation into the MS Estonia, and we look forward to sharing the most recent developments and diving into the impact of the first series with our discovery+ viewers globally.”

Henrik Evertsson, director at Monster, added: “In two episodes, we get to follow the public debate and the government’s response sparked by the documentary, revisiting key people connected with the investigation, new sources and follow the latest developments as we look to gain more knowledge about the wreck and the fateful course of events that led to the sinking of MS Estonia on September 28, 1994.”
