LOS ANGELES: Discovery Channel has elevated Joseph Schneier to the role of VP of production and development.

In his new post, Schneier, who joined Discovery in 2012 as executive producer on hit series such as Alaskan Bush People and Moonshiners, as well as on many hours of Shark Week programming, will continue to executive produce for the channel. He will also work with the development teams in New York and Los Angeles. Schneier is based in Silver Spring, Maryland and reports to Chris Rantamaki, the senior VP of production and development.

Schneier most recently oversaw Discovery’s first foray into the true-crime genre with Killing Fields. Prior to joining Discovery, Schneier served as a showrunner and executive producer in New York and Washington, D.C., producing for Discovery, Animal Planet, Science Channel, A&E and Scripps Networks, among others.
