SILVER SPRING: Destination America has commissioned Railroad Alaska: Real Time Train Ride, to air as a Thanksgiving special.

Airing from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the title will follow the journey of a train through Alaska in real time as it speeds through 500 miles of railroad. Windfall Films is producing the special, which derives from the reality series Railroad Alaska. Destination America has also greenlit a third season of that show, due out tomorrow.

“We are always stunned by the landscapes that surround us when Windfall films Railroad Alaska and this seemed like an ideal way to share the scenery that stuns us,” said Carlo Massarella, the creative director and executive producer at Windfall Films. “Real-time TV is a great way to unwind and enjoy nature.”
