Canada-Italy Doc Co-Pros Secure C$200,000 in Funding

TORONTO/ROME: The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Italian Directorate General for Cinema of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism have unveiled a financing package of C$200,000 ($149,000) for six co-productions under the Canada-Italy Co-development Incentive for Documentary Projects.

Both organizations have each contributed an equal share in the total funding. Six Canadian production companies will collaborate with six Italian companies to develop the documentaries financed through this incentive. The projects are A Life Beyond Earth (Canada’s Foundry Films and Italy’s Matrioska); Forestieri – Macaroni mon voisin (Canada’s Films du Rapide-Blanc and Italy’s Dream Film-Ila Palma); In the Name of Gerry Conlon (Canada’s Gearshift Films and Italy’s Nightswim); Striking an Unlikely Chord (Canada’s Tell Tale Productions and Italy’s GA&A Productions); The Philosopher Gastronaut (Canada’s Animoralda Media and Italy’s FilmWorks); and The Revolving Door (Canada’s Mercury Fund GP and Italy’s Moliwood Films).
