Bigger Bang’s new docuseries Revolutions: The Ideas that Changed the World has been licensed to platforms and broadcasters in 132 territories.

The series was sold by the show’s distribution partner, BBC Studios, to Tencent (China), Oriental Pearl Group (China), Multichoice Africa (South Africa), Azerbaijan Public Television and Radio, Telefonica Audiovisual Digital (Spain), KBS (Korea) and BBC Earth in Poland, South Africa, pan-Middle East, CEE and Asia. Revolutions: The Ideas that Changed the World explores the secrets of how we developed our modern world. Told through six iconic objects—the airplane, the car, the rocket, the smartphone, the telescope and the robot—this six-part series is a science-led journey through human history.

Iain Riddick, joint MD and creative director for Bigger Bang, said: “Since Bigger Bang started four years ago, our work has attracted a huge amount of interest internationally, and Revolutions is no exception. Properly crafting the narrative of how humans changed the world through six iconic objects was a real challenge. To achieve the depth of story we wanted, we had to get down to profound levels of detail—from uncovering lost documents to translating Arabic texts. The massive research effort has paid off and we are delighted that the series is in such high demand.”

Ben Bowie, joint MD and creative director for Bigger Bang, added: “Bringing blue-chip ideas to life is not just about storytelling but also about strong visualization. So, we used a novel drama technique to put our expert protagonists in historical settings, a technique which gives a new dimension to this kind of programming. Our programming aims to bring new audiences to serious subjects, so we are delighted with the global reach and scope of these sales.”

Jon Lindley, head of specialist factual and music for content partnerships at BBC Studios, said: “BBC Studios is renowned for its specialist factual content and we’re really proud to work with Bigger Bang on a blue-chip science series that combines compelling narratives with beautiful visuals. We’re delighted that so many international partners have acquired the program, meaning that audiences around the world will get to experience these stories of incredible human ingenuity.”
