LONDON: BBC Studios has appointed Claudia Lewis as the new development executive for science programming, effective in mid-November.

Lewis most recently served as head of factual programs at Sundog Pictures. Before that, she was a development executive for BBC Production Science and executive producer for factual and Boundless Productions (former Talkback Thames). Lewis has helped secure commissions for BBC One’s How to Stay Young and The Truth About… Meat and BBC Two’s City in the Skies. Among her other executive producer credits are Channel 4’s World’s Best Diet and BBC Three’s World’s Toughest Jobs.

Andrew Cohen, the head of science at BBC Studios Factual, commented: “I’m delighted that Claudia is joining BBC Studios Science to help build on the existing success of series like Forces of Nature with Brian Cox, How to Stay Young and Trust Me, I’m a Doctor. Claudia’s knowledge and experience of the domestic and international television markets is going to be utterly invaluable in seeking new co-production partners and developing ideas for new audiences. Combined with our global reputation, unparalleled journalism and partnerships, this is an exciting appointment at a time when we are building on the strengths of BBC Science as a global brand.”

Lewis added: “I’m thrilled to be part of BBC Studios at this exciting time. I’m looking forward to bringing my creative ideas and sharing my industry knowledge to grow the success of BBC Studios Science, both in the U.K. and internationally.”
