BBC News Adds Documentary Access to U.S. Website

BBC Studios and BBC News have expanded BBC.com in the U.S. with a pay model offering that makes ad-free documentaries available exclusively for subscribers.

Paying users now have unlimited access to more than 1,600 hours of documentaries, with new titles added weekly. The curated selection includes titles such as House of Maxwell, Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods, Mariupol: The People’s Story and A Very Royal Crisis: Countdown to Abdication.

Coming soon to BBC.com are Civilizations: Rise and Fall and Believe in Magic.

All visitors to BBC.com in the U.S. can browse titles by genre and view trailers through a dedicated “Documentaries” section, while paying users can unlock full access to the ad-free experience.

“More people than ever are coming to BBC.com for news they can trust,” said Deborah Turness, CEO of BBC News and Current Affairs. “Our paid subscribers will now have an even more rewarding premium experience, with the BBC’s best documentaries at their fingertips.”

Tara Maitra, president of global news and streaming at BBC Studios, added, “This is a significant step forward in our strategy to deliver a rich, more immersive experience for global audiences. By integrating premium documentaries into BBC.com, we’ve transformed it into a truly comprehensive read, watch and listen destination—deepening the ways people can engage with the BBC’s world-class journalism and storytelling.”
