Autentic has commissioned four new factual series from Canada-based Go Button Media, expanding their long-term partnership.

Among the commissions is Deadly Science, a six-part docuseries that tells the stories of martyrs of science who lost their lives in the name of knowledge. It covers scientists such as the Spanish physician Servetus, who was burned at the stake; Marie Curie, who pushed the science of radiation too far; and Dian Fossey, an ape researcher who was found murdered at her camp.

The six-part series Mapping Disaster will attempt to figure out how to prevent life-threatening catastrophes, such as a grid blackout covering half a continent or a massive oil platform explosion, in the future.

Spies that Mapped the World will recount one of the largest conspiracies and mysteries of the Cold War: the mapping of the world by Russian spies in minute detail.

The fourth commission, Colossal Machines II, builds on the success of Colossal Machines and explores the inner workings of more fascinating machines.

With these commissions, Autentic is expanding its activities of financing projects in the early stages of development. In return, it acquires exclusive territories and rights, as well as worldwide distribution rights.

“The cooperation with Go Button is one of the best examples for our content strategy, as it confirms how valuable it is for us to build long-term partnerships for our channel business as well as our production and distribution activities,” said Alexandra Boehm, head of international co-production at Autentic.

Daniel Oron, executive producer at Go Button Media, added, “Our continued expanding relationship with Autentic not only strengthens our global business, it also fuels our creative output by challenging us to develop and produce exciting new angles on high-demand genres. Autentic is continuously inspiring us to innovate.”
