Amazon Studios Merges Prime Video & Freevee Unscripted Units

Amazon Studios has merged the Prime Video and Amazon Freevee unscripted units into one team under Chris Castallo.

The newly integrated team, now within the AVOD originals and programming unit, will program content across multiple Amazon businesses, including Prime Video, Amazon Freevee, Amazon Music and Gaming and will continue to create content with 360-degree experiences such as the ability to “watch and shop” on Making the Cut.

Castallo and the team will report into Lauren Anderson in her new role as head of AVOD original content and programming. Ryan Pirozzi serves as head of Amazon Freevee, overseeing the business side of the streaming service.

Many unscripted titles developed and overseen by Castallo and his team are available on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee, including the 2022 ACM Awards, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls and The One That Got Away.

Recent and upcoming titles for Amazon Freevee are Judy Justice, Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis, UNINTERRUPTED’s Top Class: The Life and Times of The Sierra Canyon Trailblazers, Play-Doh Squished, America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation and Post Malone: Runaway.

Recent and upcoming titles for Prime Video are Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, Cosmic Love, LulaRich, The One That Got Away, Phat Tuesdays, Forever Summer: Hamptons, the third season of Making the Cut, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty and the recently announced Dr. Seuss Baking Competition.
