The Giant Beast That is the Global Economy, a new docuseries from Academy Award-winning director Adam McKay, is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video next month.

The Prime Original series follows Kal Penn as he explores the quirks, interconnections and manipulations of the global economy while he travels around the world. Throughout the series, the actor and former Obama-era White House staffer will meet with a variety of unique specialists, including Nick Bostrum, director of the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University; Panicos Demetriades, former governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus-turned-whistleblower; Felix Sater, a convicted felon, Osama Bin Laden hunter and real estate developer with ties to Moscow; and Jan Strozyk, a journalist who worked on the Panama Papers, among others.

As Penn learns more about economies across the globe over the course of the eight-part docuseries, he will be joined by household names such as Ted Danson, Zach Galifianakis, Colin Hanks, Rashida Jones, Joel McHale, Ed O’Neill, Patton Oswalt, Mary Steenburgen, Jason Sudeikis, Meghan Trainor and Sasheer Zamata. The Giant Beast That is the Global Economy will bow on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, February 22.

The series is executive produced by McKay, Will Ferrell, Kevin Messick, Eli Holzman (Project Runway, Undercover Boss), Aaron Saidman (Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies) and showrunner Aliyah Silverstein (Hacking Robot, Hollywood Game Night). It is produced by The Intellectual Property Corporation, an Industrial Media company, and Gary Sanchez Productions. Adam Davidson, co-founder of NPR’s Planet Money, is a co-executive producer, and Penn is a consulting producer.
