Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has named Kunle Falodun as VP of distribution for Africa.

Falodun will help drive SPT’s ambitions for the African continent. He moved into the newly created post at the beginning of July and will be based out of the London office. The role sees him reporting to Mark Young, the senior VP of distribution for the U.K., Africa, Ireland and Iberia.

Previously, Falodun was with Econet Media, where he was head of business development, overseeing the distribution of Econet Media’s sports content on free-to-air television (Kwese Free TV) across Sub-Sahara Africa.

Young said: “Kunle has extensive knowledge of the African media landscape and has unrivaled experience across all areas of the business, including content, distribution, local production, marketing and acquisition. As we continue to ramp up our efforts across the continent, no-one is better placed than Kunle to spearhead our development in this region.”

Falodun commented: “I look forward to this new challenge with great anticipation and expectation. Sony is a great company with truly world class products and I am really positive and excited about what we can do on the continent of Africa over the next few years.”
