JOHANNESBURG: The Australian outfit FRED Media has licensed more than 30 hours of lifestyle and reality sports content to South Africa's African Business Channel.

The network picked up season two of Supercar Showdown, in which ten up-and-coming drivers are pitted against each other in a series of competitions, and the second season of The Ultimate Rider, which also tests drivers' talents, but with motorcycles. The channel also went for season two of Sandcastles, an architectural entertainment series.

Supercar Showdown will premiere on Ignition in July, with The Ultimate Rider to follow later. Sandcastles will make its debut on The Home Channel this month.

Michael Aldrich, the general manager of FRED, said: "We are excited to be working with the African Business Channel and see The Home and Ignition channels as the perfect match for these series. We are very proud of the quality of our productions and are thrilled that they have found a home in South Africa.”

Elana Closenberg, the head of acquisitions and scheduling of African Business Channel, added: “Through this agreement with FRED Media, we are very pleased to offer our audience an even greater selection of the best reality and lifestyle series produced abroad. We look forward to future series from a company with a great reputation for developing brands and well-loved characters.”
