DISCOP Johannesburg to Host Pitching Competition

JOHANNESBURG: DISCOP Johannesburg has planned a pitching competition for its November edition, open to producers with projects in the genres of series, documentaries, formats and animation.

The pitching competition will take place on Thursday, November 3, with the selected producers across the four categories. Aspiring and established producers will have the opportunity to pitch an original idea to a panel of industry key players and potential investors active in Africa and abroad, other producers, programming and commissioning executives and advertisers. A winner and runner-up in each of the four categories will be announced that day and receive various prizes ranging from cash, funding support, mentorship packages, marketing and distribution assistance, potential broadcasting and more. All prizes for the respective categories will be announced during September.

All producers registered for DISCOP Johannesburg can enter in any or all of the categories. The submission deadline is October 14. Twenty pitches will be selected from the pool of registrants by a specially appointed committee of experts (five nominees for each of the four categories).
