The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) has chosen stand-up comedian and writer Robby Hoffman to host this year’s Awards of Excellence Gala.

Most recently, Hoffman wrote several seasons of The Chris Gethard Show, was named one of Comedy Central’s UP NEXT comedians and recorded her first stand-up comedy TV special, Just for Laughs. She will be assisted behind the scenes by Aidan Cosgrave, who is returning as the event’s director.

Hoffman began her writing career on ABC Kids’ Playdate, TVO Kids’ Dino Dana, and PBS and TVO Kids’ Odd Squad, for which she won a Daytime Emmy Award. She also worked on the CBC prime-time show Workin’ Moms and contributed to IFC’s Baroness von Sketch Show, in addition to writing for and producing Odd Squad’s web series.

The Awards of Excellence Gala honors the interactive, digital and television programs made for youth audiences in the previous two years and will be held in Toronto on May 29.
