Winners Presented at International Emmy Kids Awards in Cannes

CANNES: Shows from Japan, Australia, the U.K., Netherlands and Norway picked up wins at last night’s fourth annual International Emmy Kids Awards, which were held for the first time at MIPTV.

The award for best series was given to Nowhere Boys Series 2, which comes from Matchbox Pictures in Australia. Best TV movie/miniseries went to Rabarber (Rhubarb) from NL Film & TV/KRO-NCRV in the Netherlands. The victor in the preschool category was Bing (Acamar Films/Brown Bag Films, U.K.), while Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter (NHK/NHK Enterprises/Dwango/Polygon Pictures, Japan) took home the award for best animation. My Life: I Am Leo (Nine Lives Media, U.K.) and Best i Mest (All-Round Champion) (NRK, Norway) won in the factual and non-scripted entertainment categories, respectively.

Paisner, president of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “We congratulate all the winners for their outstanding achievements and for setting the high-quality standard we all expect for kids.”

The Emmy awards were presented on stage by international TV and digital personalities and character mascots, including YouTuber Cyrina Fiallo, Quebec comedian Cathleen Rouleau, Miss SupraNational Stephania Stegman, co-presenting with Majid Entertainment’s animation character Amoona, German preschool character Die Maus from WDR’s The Program with The Mouse with actor Gil Ofarim from WDR’s kids’ series Arman’s Secret and Jeemtv soccer mascot Saham. The event, which was attended by 200 international industry executives, was held at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. TV Kids was a presenting partner alongside Shaw Rocket Fund, Jeemtv, WDR mediagroup, Majid Entertainment, Ernst & Young and Kids@MIPTV.
