The preschool learning and entertainment app Hopster is launching a new season of its original show Two Minute Tales in February.

The show aims to break gender stereotypes by retelling classic fairy tales so they are relevant in this day and age. The new season will celebrate diversity as well as feature alternative families. The story of “The Very Competitive Mermaid” will feature same-sex parents, while “The Little Wooden Boy”—an episode based on Pinocchio—will encourage children to be inclusive and accept each other’s differences.

Two Minute Tales originally premiered on Hopster in August 2017. Season two was commissioned by Hopster Studios and produced by the Cheshire-based animation production company The Consortium of Gentlemen.

Ellen Solberg, content lead at Hopster and executive producer of Two Minute Tales, said: “Part of our mission at Hopster is challenging stereotypes, offering inclusive content, and representing all types of people and families. This was a big focus for us when developing the new Two Minute Tales episodes.

“We have loved working with The Consortium of Gentlemen, who have developed the most imaginative and creative stories, which are fun but also teach kids important morals and life lessons.”
