Viacom’s Paramount Players is acquiring the feature film rights for Creepy Crawlers, a popular, insect-themed toy brand owned by JAKKS Pacific.

Neal H. Moritz is on board to produce with Marc Gurvitz. Toby Ascher and Stephen Berman will serve as executive producers, with Ali Bell and Royce Reeves-Darby overseeing for Paramount Players. The film’s production is subject to the finalization of definitive deals among the parties involved.

“Creepy Crawlers has been an iconic brand since the 1960s and we are honored to work with Neal Moritz, Paramount Players and the Nickelodeon-Viacom family in bringing it to life on the big screen,” said Berman, the chairman and CEO of JAKKS Pacific. “We, and the studio, envision the property to be developed into a family-adventure film in the vein of Jumanji.”
