Paper Owl Films’ Lí Ban is set to make its international debut at MIPCOM 2024 and launch on Ireland’s Cúla4/TG4 and Wales’ S4C in the Welsh language in October.

The 13×11-minute Celtic-inspired series takes place in an ancient world of gods and monsters and follows 12-year-old Lí Ban’s quest for answers about why she was transformed into a mermaid and who destroyed her home. Aardman is handling international distribution of the series.

Lí Ban’s adventures are based on Celtic legends that have been passed down for generations. As her quest unfolds, she meets Manannán the sea god and learns what the real meaning of family is.

Sadbh Breathnach voices Lí Ban, and Jude Petticrew voices Con, Lí Ban’s faithful dog who transforms into an otter.

The series was made with funding support from Coimisiún na Meán and Northern Ireland Screen’s Screen Fund and Irish Language Broadcast Fund.
