Media IM Sends Kids’ Shows to Europe, Asia

Media IM has secured sales for two of its key properties, Rosa & Dara and Their Great Adventures and Flying Animals.

Portugal’s public broadcaster RTP picked up all currently available episodes of Flying Animals, marking the first international deal for the fantasy-comedy series aimed at children aged 6 to 9. Flying Animals is about a group of musical animals who are given wings as a reward for their courage as they try to change their lives for the better.

In Russia, Flying Animals currently airs on seven channels and online services, including Carousel and Moolt. Last year, Media IM joined forces with U.K.-based charity Hope for Children, pledging to donate the distribution profits from Flying Animals to the charity’s Your Business, Their Lives initiative.

In addition, RTP and YLE in Finland acquired Rosa & Dara and Their Great Adventures, an animated adventure fantasy for kids aged 6 to 8. It is produced by Czech studios Bionaut Animation and Kredenc. The 26-minute TV special was also scooped up by Folimage, which secured the theatrical and DVD rights for France and French-speaking Europe. The show centers on 7-year-old twins Rosa and Dara, whose mission is to save the world from the exploits of their naughty dog Laiko.

In China, Sino Media went for the exclusive digital media rights, including VOD, SVOD, OTT and IPTV, for mainland China for Rosa & Dara and Their Great Adventures, Flying Animals and the spin-off series Kids and Flying Animals. The deal also includes two other Media IM properties, The Bubbles and Robodz.

Maria Ufland, co-founder of Media IM, said: “We’re making a name for ourselves as animation treasure hunters. We hope to replicate with these two shows what we’ve managed to achieve with the enchanting Sunny Bunnies—that is, to take brilliant, undiscovered IP from lesser-known animation studios and share it with the world. For us, the first sale of Flying Animals is a real milestone. Not only is the show powered by passion, but every penny goes to Hope for Children and Helping is Easy charities. We’re over the moon that RTP and Sino Media share our enthusiasm for the project.”
