Mattel Television has tapped veteran TV executive Phil Breman as VP of live-action development.

In his new role, Breman will oversee all live-action TV development for scripted and unscripted content for Mattel Television. He joins during a busy time, as Mattel recently premiered several series and has He-Man and the Masters of the Universe slated to debut this month.

Breman joins the company from NBCUniversal, where he served as VP of current programming. While there, he managed shows such as Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Manifest and Will & Grace. Prior to that, he developed several scripted kids’ and family series at Disney Channel such as Good Luck Charlie and Jessie. Breman has also served as both a writer and producer on 100-plus episodes of network television.

“This is an exciting time for Mattel Television,” said Fred Soulie, senior VP and general manager of Mattel Television, to whom Breman will report. “Phil offers a wealth of knowledge in television development and current series programming for cable, broadcast and streaming and will be invaluable as we continue to create compelling programming driven by our iconic suite of brands.”

Breman said, “Mattel has one of the world’s most recognizable and beloved portfolios of brands, and I am thrilled to be joining such an incredibly talented team. There is such a rich history and strong emotional connection to these brands, and the potential to create stories that will resonate with both kids and adults is truly unlimited.”
