The new Mattel Television series Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go is slated to bow on Netflix and Cartoon Network in the U.S. this fall.

Produced in 2D animation, Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go will serve as the debut of Thomas content on Cartoon Network. International broadcast partners for the show will be announced in the coming months.

Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go will feature stories told from Thomas’ point of view, purposeful and playful stories, physical comedy, more music and a cast that includes four additional young engines—Nia, Percy, Diesel and Kana.

Fred Soulie, senior VP and general manager of Mattel Television, said: “Thomas & Friends is a brand with a deep content legacy that has resonated with families around the world for decades. The creative evolution of Thomas & Friends, coupled with the franchise’s iconic characters, has transcended generations and we look forward to working with broadcasters across the globe to bring Thomas’ latest stories to existing and new fans alike.”

Christopher Keenan, executive producer, said in a blog post: “The show will introduce an entirely new creative approach to Thomas & Friends content. With new art direction, much more physical comedy, and a greater range of character expressiveness, this fast and colorful show is crafted to appeal to contemporary audiences’ sensibilities while maintaining Thomas’ core brand ethos.”
