LONDON: Lionsgate UK has picked up a 25 percent stake in the indie production company Kindle Entertainment, which specializes in kids' and family content.

Kindle is behind the children's shows Dinopaws, Hank Zipzer and Dixi, among others. It was launched eight years ago by Anne Brogan and Melanie Stokes. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the move marks Lionsgate UK's first investment in the TV business.

“We’re thrilled to be in business with the incredibly talented team at Kindle Entertainment and excited to explore new creative opportunities together as we begin to build our Lionsgate television brand in the U.K. and look to replicate the success of our film business,” said Zygi Kamasa, the CEO of Lionsgate UK. “Our new strategic partnership broadens and deepens our support of British filmed entertainment, continues the diversification of our business and capitalizes on the momentum already established by Lionsgate’s growing worldwide television operations.”
