LONDON: Hopster, a learning app for kids that first launched in the U.K. in 2013, is now available in the U.S. initially on Apple’s iOS and tvOS platforms.

Hopster’s U.S. launch comprises a catalog of newly acquired children’s shows and music, including segments introducing Reading Rainbow with LeVar Burton, as well as Monster Math Squad and Franny’s Feet from DHX Media. The service features a new music area offering such hits as Super Simple Songs and Chris Ballew’s music video series Caspar Babypants. There is also a suite of educational games.

Hopster is meant for children under the age of 6. The app recently underwent a design change to allow for simpler navigation and a more immersive user experience. It is now available in more than 100 countries around the globe.

Nick Walters, founder and CEO at Hopster, commented: “Launching in the U.S. is a massive step for us in our mission to build a global platform that helps kids learn through the content they love. Rather than rush in we’ve taken the time to learn from our first phase of international expansion. Now, with over 1 million installs to date, we’ve made sure that Hopster’s really ready for the U.S.—fully customized and packed with shows and games that U.S. families will really love.”

Linda Benjamin, the president of global strategy and business at LeVar Burton’s RRKIDZ, noted: “Our mission is to inspire generations of children to love reading and we are excited to be able to introduce kids to the magic of LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow through the fantastic Hopster service.”

Devon Thagard, the president of Super Simple Learning, which produces Super Simple Songs, added: “Just like Hopster, we think that learning should be made easy and fun, that’s why we are glad to feature some of our best kids’ songs and nursery rhymes on the platform.”
